Job Responsibilities:
- Perform socket and spigot jointing of DI (Ductile Iron) pipes using appropriate rubber gaskets/rings (Push-on joints / Mechanical joints).
- Ensure proper cleaning, alignment, and lubrication of pipe ends and gaskets before jointing to prevent leakages.
- Execute pipe cutting, chamfering, and preparation on-site as per the required dimensions and levels.
- Collaborate closely with the Site Engineer, Riggers, and Excavator Operators to position and lower pipes safely into the trenches.
- Assist in hydrostatic pressure testing (hydraulic testing) of the pipeline to identify and rectify any joint defects or leaks.
- Handle specialized jointing tools, equipment, and machinery safely and maintain them in good working condition.
- Follow all on-site safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) during trench operations.
Educational Requirements:
Class 8 Pass / SSC / Trade Course Certificate in Plumbing or Mechanical Trade from any recognized vocational institute (Flexible for highly experienced candidates).
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Pipe Jointer.
Mandatory Preference: Proven practical experience in DI (Ductile Iron) Pipe Jointing or Water Supply Network distribution pipelines is strictly required.
Additional Requirements:
- Deep physical fitness and willingness to work inside deep open-cut excavation trenches.
- Technical understanding of rubber gasket positioning, deflection limits, and joint alignment.
- Strong team-working abilities and capacity to understand verbal instructions from the site supervisor or engineer.
